Video Cross Country Course Walk with Ian Stark OBE FBHS

Although Ian Stark announced his retirement from competition riding at Lexington 2007 (where he was 11th), he is still living up to his 'Flying Scot' reputation as he is a qualified pilot and enjoys whizzing around the country in his light aircraft.

Designer of the Novice and Advanced course at the Chatsworth Nissan International Horse Trials we caught Ian on the ground long enough for him to show us around what he describes as possibly the most beautiful horse trials setting in the world - Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

Exclusive video interview with Mark Todd on his come back trail

Double individual Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Todd announced the end to his retirement in January of this year, in a bid to qualify for the Hong Kong Olympics.

All Mark needed was a horse and he was set to go. Mark however knows that life is not that simple. Not only did he need a horse suitable to ride at the highest level, but with his retirement running to eight years, he also needed to qualify again as a rider.

Starting his quest in his native New Zealand, Mark has now returned to his home of more than 20 years, Great Britain. A country which has been able to enjoy watching a man that was not only described as the most successful event rider of all time, but described by many as one of the most successful athletes of all time.

Taking a step closer By winning the CIC*** at Puhinui in New Zealand in March, Mark travels to Osberton in Nottinghamshire, and then on to Saumur in France, where his needs to complete a CCI*** and hopefully, selection to once again represent his country in the Olympic Games.

Mark Todd Facts

Three times winner of Badminton (1980, 1994, 1996)

Five times winner of Burghley (1987, 90, 91, 97 and 99)

Mark Todd is one of only two riders to take Burghley 1st and 2nd in the same year (the other being fellow countryman Blyth Tait)

Two Olympic individual Medals (Charisma 1984 Los Angeles and 1988 Seoul)

Three Olympic team medals (1984 LA, 1992 Barcelona and 2000 Sydney)

Only the second repeat Olympic three day eventing champions (Charisma).

Mark was also an accomplished show jumper, competing in the Olympic show jumping in 1988 and 1992.
