Nick Gauntlett and Chilli Morning
triumphed in a hotly contested international intermediate
** at Longleat this weekend. Second after dressage,
followed by a blistering cross country round leads
Nick and the 8 year old stallion Chilly Morning
to win by almost four points over Kitty Boggis
and Boondoggle, with Antoinette McKeowen and Two
O Two taking third.

Nick Gauntlett gained his best
result of the season so
far by winning the CIC** at Longleat last weekend.
Not quite leading from the off, Nick followed
up his dressage of 40.3 with a clear show
jumping round and the second fastest cross country
time to ease into the lead

Burton College British Under 25 Champion - Oliver
Smith. For 24 year old Oliver, this was the biggest
win of his career but not the biggest honour,
that being reserved for his 2004 appearance in
the Young Rider team.

Bramham
record for William Fox-Pitt

For the second consecutive year,
William Fox-Pitt won Bramham International Horse
Trials, bringing him a record fifth title at Yorkshire’s
premier event.
As is so often at Bramham, the
competition went right down to the wire on the
final day’s show jumping.

Oliver Smith Triumphs in the Bramham
U25's

In a typically exciting Bramham Horse Trials
finish Oliver Smith has won the Bishop Burton
College British Under 25 Championship. Riding
the eleven year-old gelding Trinity Hill, Oliver
had two show jumps in hand and after hitting fence
one it was a nervy finish.

Horse Trials in Scotland

Beautiful sunny weather greeted the competitors
at this year’s Oatridge Horse Trials. Organised
by Mr Carson Jones & Miss Lucy Brindley, Oatridge
ran a series of classes, including an intro (won
by Colleen Moore) and a pre novice reginal fina
(won by Karen Redfearn).

Oliver Townend sweeps to victory at Houghton

Following injury six weeks ago, Oliver Townend
returns to top form and after two three star victories
at Chatsworth two weeks ago he continues on track
by winning the top rated international intermediate
** at Houghton. Owen Moore and John-Paul Sheffield
were one star winners.

World Cup Win for Oliver Townend

On a glorious Derbyshire weekend,
the recently injured Oliver Townend bounces back
to win the sixth World Cup Qualifier at Chatsworth
House. Pippa Funnel and Ensign return to form
to finish 2nd and William Fox-Pitt with Parkmore

Richard and Sally Durham once again played host
to the Global Highland sponsored Scotsburn Horse
Trials. This year’s competition was eventful from
the very start. As in previous years the evening
before the event includes a course demonstration
by a leading rider, and this year was Ian Stark.

Continued rain into Monday threatened Wednesday’s
first day of eventing at Rodbaston, but the sun
finally arrived and, with the removal of just
one intro fence, the cross-country course was
cleared for competition.

The sun shone brightly on 3 days
of competition at Yorkshire’s Richmond Equestrian
Centre. The event was well-run with every phase
running to time and the show jumping warm-up following
military precision between two collecting rings.

Brechin Castle

Overnight rain ensured that the
ground was almost perfect for Brechin Castle Horse
Trials. The Earl of Dalhousie, on whose estate
the trials were run, showed a continuing interest
throughout the day, which was much appreciated
by organisers and helpers alike.

Touzaint does it for France
European champion - Nicolas Touzaint held his
nerve on the final day and when the last fence
stayed up, he threw up his arms, to a great roar
from the Badminton crowd. He had become the first
French winner of Badminton Horse Trials.
