One down show jumping was just enough for Nicolas Touzaint to become the first French winner of Badminton Horse Trials. With two fences in hand over Lucy Wiegersma - who had had one down, the reigning European champion held his nerve and when the last fence stayed up, he threw up his arms, to a great roar from the Badminton crowd. Lucy Wiegersma pulled out her best Badminton performance yet to come 2nd and William Fox-Pitt was third after a nightmare round by 3rd into show jumping Polly Stockton.
